Species « Thread Started on Dec 5, 2007, 11:34am »
This is the thread where all the different types of species will be listed. If you have an idea for a new species, please go here to post said idea.
Earth-Originated Species
Humans
Home Planet: Earth Appearance: Average height: males-6', females-5' 6". Resemble apes to an extent, but walk bi-pedal and have much less fur covering their bodies. Most their hair lies upon the tops of their head. Abilities: They are the basic genetic code to many species across the universe. This basic bi-pedal mammal that has helped deliver impressive technological advances and of course created the first basic language on Earth and still remains the dominant species. They have the ability to live to around 100 years. Culture: The human culture varies - as it depends on the origins of the human. Normally human culture revolves around the 'dominant male' - but that trend has been pushed away and been proven wrong several times over. Also, they have a habit of being overall lazy, yet surprisingly determined. Taking pride in their nationalities and religions is also a commonality within the human species - always thinking they're better then each other.
Shi
Name: The Shi Home Planet: Earth - simply evolved humans Appearance: They have sharper features and an overall 'elf' like appearance. Abilities: The Shi are slightly telepathic - being able to see surface thoughts with slight effort. They also have a naturally higher intelligence then normal humans, plus live too around 500 years old (start looking "old" around 350, meaning signs of lines and graying hair) Culture: Pretty much same as humans - simply think of them selves higher then the average human, since they are the next step in the human race.
Bio-Mechanical-Organisms
Name: BMO, met-heads, robo-freaks, cyber-hounds, but officially knowns as Bio-Mechanical-Organisms Home Planet: None - they are a mix of all species Appearance: Normally look like humans for the most part, but have dead giveaways to their inner cyber workings - such as strange eyes, a glow going up their spine when they're excited, random bits of what appears to be something like a computer chip on clearer surfaces upon their body - but not always; since it varies person-to-person. Abilities: As said above, it matters person-to-person, but most commonly super strength and advanced thinking, reading, and hacking abilities - plus those who have altered brains can communicate with each other without having to be in the same room or open their mouths. If the mechanics are in the blood, the BMO often will regenerate limbs/heal quickly. For those who became a BMO for non-medical purposes, they normally have a mixture of all the parts they just wanted improved. Like their original species, BMO's can have children, reproduce, etc...but the kids are normal - meaning that there is no such thing as a natural child BMO. Many BMO's have their children put under the knife, just so that they won't be normal and will fit in with the rest of the BMOs. Culture: Even though there is no single species that is the majority of the BMO's - they all have a newly adopted culture. They believe they are the next step of all species in the universe - and to not get the procedure done is blasphemy and are denying the gods the right to watch all of their creations mature and change into something new. [Note: if you are a member that's interested in being a BMO but don't see the Polaris to Rp on, don't fret! It's there...just hidden from your view until your bio is approved to be said species. Also, you can be a BMO spy on Aurora.

Other Planetary Species
Réole
Name: The Réole Home Planet: Eilia Appearance: strange hair, eye, and occasionally strange skin colors. They also tend to just "know" things. Live to the average age of 200, and tend to stay beautiful even when they are "old". They simply gracefully grow more "expression" upon their faces. Culture: Eilia is a strange planet that's brightly lit - color wise. Their culture normally nominates women to power - men getting high-powers jobs rarely. They celebrate such holidays as "Chell" - which is known as 'the day of drinking', when they simply celebrate life by getting wasted [occurs January 2nd - coinciding with Earth's New Years. In general, they need no time to learn a language and simply near to hear it once or twice before they are fluent - making their native tongue unknown - since nearly every language in the galaxy is spoken on Eilia. Since they have assimilated with humans, they tend to lean away from their home culture and simply blend in with the background.
Feni
Name: The Feni, aka "shifties" Home Planet: VexX [destroyed] Appearance: They [in a relaxed form] look like your everyday human. The only time this differs, is when they choose to use their 'ability' - in which case they could look like anything they so choose. Abilities: The Feni can morph into anything they want - thus the nick-name "shifties". To prevent them from shifting into other people [for secruity purposes] all Feni are required to get an injection every few months. It is required so by law - minus on their home planet, and under BMO rule. Each Feni has a specific animal that they can morph into more easily then most - this being what they call their S.C. or "soul creature". Minus their SC - the more difficult and intricate [and different from human] the animal, the harder it becomes - insects being the hardest and other people being the easiest. Culture: Back when VexX was a planet, children were brought into schools at a young age - both to learn a basic knowledge (like Earth) and to learn what their SC is. By age 10, the children of the Feni are able to fully morph into their SC, and do other basic forms - like other people. Only other Feni can tell when another Feni is impersonating another. Back when the BMO's were still weak - yet had firepower - they went to VexX to seek the people with a powerful gift. Many refused - thus causing the BMO's to snap and destroy their planet, sending the refugees to Earth and worsening the population problem. With this new addition, Earth made a new law about an injection to stop morphing into other people - therefore to save from fraud and other crimes that could come from taking the appearance of another.
Mala'shraians
Name: Mala'shra Home Planet: Mala Appearance: Mala'shra Begin life in a fibrous husk like plant. They come into the world at the reversed age of humans (They start life as an old person and then slowly become younger through out there life. There life ends as they slowly become an infant and then gradually they fade away) Malar are known to be long lived beings and can live for hundreds of years. Reproduction is not like human reproduction. Female Mala'shra, like a plant based-life form, will develop a small seed and can produce many. Males, if they are willing to commit to a female will offer his "essence" which the Malar female will add to the seed and that is how most Mala'shra come into being.Mala'shra are also telepathic beings. They often talk to their young, which they call offspring while they are developing in their fibrous plant like husk. They are known for their gentle nature.Mala'shra as they slowly begin to look like children have a more waifish appearance. Middle aged and old ones (who are the newly developed offspring) look like an average human with only a slight waifish Elvish look. The Changing or Transformation is a period of time, when a Mala'shra becomes younger happens during a random period of time, usually between periods of 200 years but can happen anytime. Abilities:Mala'shra are known for there skill at gardening and planting due to their beginnings as a plant based life form. They have a connection to living and growing things that others can not even fathom. A Mala'shra can stimulate life, mostly in plants and sometimes in themselves. Culture:The planet Mala is mostly fields and forests as the Mala’shra live in harmony with nature. Mala’shra s are also known to use technology to make their lives easier but not to clutter their lives with it. Technology is something they believe should not control or dominate their lives. There are three groups of Mala’shra s though, one group that have chosen more of a peaceful existence of farming and honing there telepathic skills. The other group, instead of living on the fields and farming choose a more warrior/hunter like existence, living in the wilds and forests of the planet and using there telepathic skills to aid themselves in the wilds. And the last group is a combination of the two other groups. This group is a group of farmers and warriors who ended up inter-mating with each other. They try to farm and be warriors/hunters Each group is mostly at peace with each other except for minor conflicts between farmers and warriors. As each group struggles with day to day life and how to coexist with each other. However, this was all nearly wiped out during a great drought that plagued the planet and nearly destroyed the Mala’shraians. The Elders, who were wise in thought, though had the bodies of young children, were determined to save as many offspring as they could. They had the technology and ability to create three underground communities to help preserve the offspring. At the end, the Elders and older Mala’shraians basically sacrificed themselves to preserve the lives of the, offspring, the children that they had created. After 150 years had passed, the offspring left the underground communities and slowly began to rebuild their civilization. After 145 years had passed, the civilization resumed where it basically left off, with a slight blip in their history of this terrible cataclysm that had occurred. Mala’shraian belief/religion: Mala’shra ians believe that at the beginning of life on Mala a great tree sprouted from a great seed and as the tree sprouted and the seed grew. The planet Mala formed. From the tree more seeds came forth and seeded the planet with life, including the seeds that form some of their technology and themselves. There is a tree on Mala that is very old, that most Mala’shra ians believe is this particular tree. This is why most Mala’shraians are deeply rooted in the belief of planting, growing and harvesting and using as much plant life in their daily lives as they can including in their technlogy. Each year during the time of harvest, Mala’shra ians celebrate the festival of prix'ani, the festival of, the harvest, family, love, and tradition. Which is generally celebrated the fourth to fifth week in the season of Ya'via (Autumn) Prayers and offerings are given that the coming years will be plentiful and prosperous. It is time that disputes and contentions are attempted to be resolved and a week of peace and no work is done. Each night, families and friends gather and spend time with each other. Other various rituals such as marriage and death rights are given around this tree that is found on Mala. This 'great tree' found on Mala is also considered sacred ground and sanctuary. No violence, no warfare must be done on this area for it is considered heresy of the first degree to bring harm to anyone there. Rulers/Governing Body: There are fifteen elders, five from each different sect of the Mala’shra They are mostly older Mala’shra who are children in form but have the intelligence of an older person. Each sect works out or attempts to work out disagreements with each other. Most of these sessions of governance are done telepathically without much vocal conversation as vocal conversation is considered an inferior way to settle disputes. However, in Mala's past there have been more than 15 elders and more than 3 clans/sects. There were 6 Clan/Sects. These 6 clan leaders were 6 brothers who were the principle leaders over the clans/Sects. However, when one of the brother's died. His daughter took his place. Her uncle, one of the brothers was angry for he wanted to take leadership over his dead brother's clan. Two of the brothers supported the daughter of there deceased brother and two joined the other brother who wanted to take over the leadership from their niece. This lead all the Mala’shra ian's into about a 1300 year old war. But after the first 1000 years, the Mala’shraians had completely forgotten what the war was all about. At the end of the war, three of the clans were nearly wiped out. Some Mala’shraians had suffered severe war trauma which lead to their sickness. The Mala’shraians vowed never to fight another war again, because of all the suffering and pain they had went through. The nearly wiped out clans joined the main three clans and attempted to rebuild their civilization. But things never really were the same after the war. The elders made a very grave decision and decided to hide a lot of knowledge concerning the weapons that there people made to fight with. Whereas many of their people refused to even teach or learn the knowledge for fear that even learning how to make weapons of warfare would bring on their own demise in another war. And there are other reasons that some knowledge the Elders know and have passed down from each other has remained hidden. Such knowledge they have vowed never to reveal to the other Mala’shraians for fear of things that are beyond their control. The Elders fear space travel or exploration beyond their home and have done all that they can to prevent any Mala’shraian from developing the knowledge of Space Travel. The elders have their reasons, even though it may be wrong.... Other Information: Mala’shras are not into a monetary system, they believe in a goods and works system. A system where food and goods are given for an amount of work or an amount of goods for an amount of goods. Concerning Mala’shraian technology: Mala’shraian technology is a combination of plant based/biological technology and nonliving components such as metal and plastic based compounds and some computer generated systems as well. They have simple ground transports (Which is the most advanced form of biotechnology that they have) which are grown from the seeds of the bo'ara tree. These seeds form a symbiotic relationship with their pilots when they are made and forged. When these transports are first created, the pilot and transport can not be separated for the first few weeks as the transport is considered like a newly born "offspring" and can be confused if separated from it's owner. If separated too long, the transport will die. Mala’shra ians are also very secretive on the process of making their transports. Outsiders are not normally permitted to see the growing and the making of there transports. Nor are they normally allowed to posses one. If an outsider is shown the process and/or are permitted in having one, they must go through a very ritualized almost religious like process of creating a Mala’shra ian based transport. It requires a person accepting the religious beliefs of the Mala’shra ian people and the acceptance the importance of the planet Mala, which is very central in Mala’shra ian beliefs. Mala’shra ian dwellings and some items are made of a plant material called La'mara It is usually green like and sometimes blue or red striped and does not have to be killed to form simple things like plates, furniture, and dwellings. This plant like material is from the same family as is the bo'ara. Weaponry: Mala’shra ians don't normally fight but when they do, there weaponry is usually grown and genetically manipulated to make weapons. (Note: Most of this knowledge was lost after the events of the Clan and Sect Wars) Medical sciences: Most Mala’shra ians use there plant based connections to promote healing within each other. But a healer usually carries a swatch of living healing patches which act like bandages and start the healing process with wounds. Mala’shra ian recokning of time: One Mala’shra ian year equals 144 Human/Earth/Solar years. Mala’shra ians preferred to reckon in sixes and twelves as far as possible. A 'day' of the sun they call, Re'tani and reckoned from sunset to sunset. Each Mala’shra ian year contains 52,596 Earth days. For more ritual purposes rather than practicality Mala’shra ians observed a 'week' or En'naki of six days; and the year contained 8,766 of these En'naki. reckoned continuously through the period. This calender is more used for keeping long term records more than anything else being reckoned for each 144 solar years/Earth years that pass. For an example, an average Mala’shr ian life span is around 6 to 7 Mala’shra ian years by this calender. However, there is also a shorter calender that Mala’shraians also have as well, that follows more after the sun or the solar-year. This calender follows a planting or harvesting which is called Co'naria or the "Sun-wheel" when considered more or less astronomically, but usually called La'san or 'Growth' when the seasonal changes in vegetation were primarily considered, as is usual for Mala’shra ians to do. The La'san was broken up into periods that might be regarded as long months or short seasons. These seasons however, can differ in different regions of Mala but the primary calender which is found in their one and only city, which is the standard for most of the planet, there are six of these 'seasons,' of which the Mala’shraian names are Tu'lan, La'ire, Ya'via, Qu'ella, hi'van, and co'vai, which may be translated into "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Fading, Winter, and Stiring" La'ire and Hi'van contain 72 days, and the remainder of 54 each. The La'san (growing) began with ye'stan, the day immediately before Tu'lan and ended with me'tarai the day immediately after Co'vai. Between Ya'via and Qu'ella were inserted three En'na or "middle-days'. This provided a year of 365 days which was supplemented by doubling the En'na (adding 3 days) in every twelfth year.
Xona
Home Planet: Xo'Za Appearance: Xona has a disturbing and frightening appearance. Tall, slim and hairless. They appear to look like humans standing at 5'7 to 6'8, and are slim and slender both male and female. They have hands and feet like humans with five fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot. Their faces consists of thin and high cheek bones, specks of a second color can be seen, but it all depends on the Xona themselves, they do not have eyebrows but rather a thin protruding line of flesh acting as one, their eyes are catlike and are purely black. The most unnatural thing about Xona's is their blue shaded skin, which ranges from light to a deep blue, also some Xona's are known to have splashes of color around their heads and mid-torso area, and other areas as well. Xona's neck are elongated of that of a normal human and their heads are also long folding back and protruding is their "hair" which is more like layers open layers of softer skin, their "hair" is more color then their skin color which is originally blue. Also have female and male reproductives organs, and the females give birth just like humans except it takes 14 months instead of nine for birth.
Abilities: Xona have the ability to stretch their faces to unnatural lengths. though this isn't considered a fighting ability it is does when a Xona is upset. Another ability is to change into the one appearance that mattered to them many years ago, human. Since the start of the 20th century when they first arrived on earth. Another ability and the last is to transport, but not at long distances, example one room to another, that are directly beside one another.
Culture: Xona must be the alien race that has the least known about them. Their planet's appearance is unknown for it is covered in a thick fog-like substance all the time, but it appears to be a deep purple from afar. Otherwise it consists of tall and narrow black buildings and futuristic towers all in the architecture of tall and narrow with lots of extravagant archways and tunnels. A note that is the oddest thing about this race is their machines used for information, throughout the years Xona's gathered so much information that as a young child from the age of three a metal black machine is attached to their backs and they are forced to sit in a dark room placing their mouth of a tube while cuffed to a machine giving them information through the mouthpiece.
Xona belief/religion: Xona does not have a religion only a motto and code to life in the universe: "Know all you can know, by any means". Xona teach this to their children at a young age. This is taken very seriously and it is encouraged greatly.
Rulers/Governing Body: Xona and their planet is ruled over by three Xona males acting as a government. What they say hoes and nothing else matters. Under them is advisers and under them is "judges" which act like human FBI and CIA type.
Medical sciences: Very advanced, the rest is unknown.
Known history: The Xona came from their planet to earth at the start of the 20th century, they did their experiments on humans and such and managed the ability to for themselves in the appearance of humans. The Xona's mostly abducted children and slid their way into the CIA and top cover up governments around the world, mostly the USA, who knew of their experiments. If any human would dare argue with the Xona they were quickly killed or taken away. Before earth was destroyed the Xona left knowing of it before-hand.
Gathering information of the Aurora city ship the Xona quickly decided to dispatched themselves there, they only sent their alien Xona scientists, to gather information and samples of whatever they could find. Some of the Xona scientists decided to remain in Xona form but others chose a less noticeable form, a form they had learned a long time ago, human.
The Xona are dangerous and intelligent and are not to be taken lightly.
